Don Dada Tech recently played a pivotal role in the Southwest Youth Skill Acquisition Program, where we were proud to be one of the facilitators. Our focus was on imparting essential digital and employability skills, but our impact went beyond the digital realm. This program also featured training in Tie and Dye (Adire Making), Farming, Fashion and Beauty, and Waste Management. Together, these skills form a comprehensive toolkit for today’s youth, equipping them to thrive in a competitive job market.
At Don Dada Tech, we believe that digital skills are not just optional but essential in the modern workforce. Over the two-day event, we led interactive sessions where participants learned the fundamentals of coding, no-code development, social media management, and graphic design. These sessions were designed to be practical, ensuring that each participant walked away with hands-on experience that they could immediately apply.
While our primary focus was on digital skills, we also took the time to illustrate how these skills can enhance more traditional fields. For example, we demonstrated how Adire makers can use social media to market their products globally, how farmers can employ digital tools for precision farming, and how those in fashion and beauty can create online portfolios to attract a wider audience. Even in waste management, digital tools can streamline processes, improve efficiency, and promote sustainable practices.
By integrating digital knowledge with these traditional skills, participants learned how to make their crafts and professions more competitive in the modern marketplace.
In addition to digital training, we emphasized the importance of employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and adaptability. These soft skills are crucial for success in any field, as they enable individuals to effectively work with others, manage challenges, and continuously learn and grow in their careers. We held a general session where we explained the significance of these skills and how they can complement both digital and traditional expertise to make participants more attractive to potential employers.
The Southwest Youth Skill Acquisition Program was a success, not just because of the skills imparted, but because of the holistic approach we took. By combining digital training with practical applications in various fields, and by emphasizing the importance of employability skills, we provided a well-rounded learning experience that prepares participants for real-world challenges.
We are proud to have been part of this initiative and look forward to continuing our mission of empowering youth with the skills they need to succeed in today’s world.
